J Stephenson 7′ spinning rod – £ 75.00 – Sold Out
I came across this unexpectedly in a job lot that I purchased and fell instantly in love: its the first Stephenson rod I’ve ever seen (so something of a rarity) though their reels come up fairly frequently. Whipped in traditional burgundy throughout, with oodles of inters, and with alloy reel bands and winding check on a 15.5″ cork handle. Guides are low bridge throughout, lined butt and tip and the ferrules are of the Hardy “lock fast” type. Clearly marked for J Stephenson of Alnwick on the end cap and with original hard wood ferrule stopper and (unnamed) bag.
Would make a superb perching rod with a Mitchell CAP/ 304 perhaps or a Hardy Triumph centrepin. Alternatively would make a great first vintage rod for a young angler.
